Your host - Joy Strandquist, and a little history...

Joy grew up in a family passionate about camping. They spent many happy times in the backwoods of BC. Her mother even canned fruit and baked cakes over the campfire. As a little girl, Joy always told her family that one day she would have her own campground.

She realized her dream in 1990 when she purchased her property. The land was selectively cleared starting in 1995 and construction of the buildings was complete by summer of 1996 when Whiskey Creek RV Campground officially opened for business.

After being a banker for 40 years, Joy retired to operate the campground full-time in 2011. One of Joy’s biggest pleasures is meeting people from all over the world and sharing their travel stories.

Come & enjoy her warm hospitality.

wildlife in the camp

A few summers ago, the campground had an unexpected visitor. One sunny Sunday morning, a 350 lb black bear sauntered down the driveway in search of breakfast. He turned the compost bin upside down and helped himself to composted bear delicacies.

Once nearby campers created loud noise in efforts to scare him, he ambled off slowly the way he came, never to be seen again. As he left the camp he kept stopping & glancing backwards - it made a great photo opportunity for our camping visitors from Switzerland.

It’s not uncommon to see other wildlife in the campground including raccoons, rabbits, deer, and eagles in flight overhead. Listen closely at night for the nocturnal harmony of the frogs, crickets, and even the occasionally 'hoooo' from a Great Grey Owl.

We'd love to host your pets too. Please keep dogs on leash at all times. Oh, yes, those special little gifts our pets leave behind...thanks for picking up after them and helping us keep our park clean.

Smoking is allowed in your site.
We ask you to exercise extreme caution as we are surrounded by beautiful woods.
